Build a Routine That Works

Summary: A skincare routine doesn't need to be 10 steps to be effective. In fact, for most people, simpler is better. This guide provides the essential "Core Three" steps and explains how to layer treatments for maximum efficacy.

The "Core Three" Pillars

Every effective skincare routine, regardless of skin type, is built on three fundamental steps. If you do nothing else, do these.

  1. Cleanse: Remove dirt, oil, and pollutants that accumulate on the skin. A clean canvas is essential for everything else.
  2. Moisturize: Hydrate the skin and lock in that moisture to support the skin's natural barrier.
  3. Protect (SPF): The single most important anti-aging step. UV damage accounts for up to 80% of visible skin aging.

How to Layer Your Products

If you decide to add targeted treatments (serums, toners, etc.), the general rule of thumb is to apply products from thinnest consistency to thickest.

  • Step 1: Cleanser (Wash off)
  • Step 2: Toner (Optional, liquid consistency)
  • Step 3: Serums (Lightweight, targeted actives like Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid)
  • Step 4: Eye Cream (Optional, specialized for delicate skin)
  • Step 5: Moisturizer (Cream or lotion consistency)
  • Step 6: Face Oil (Optional, seals everything in)
  • Step 7: SPF (Morning only, the final shield)

Morning vs. Evening Routines

Your skin has different needs during the day compared to at night.

Morning: Protection

  • Gentle Cleanse (or just water for dry skin)
  • Vitamin C Serum (Antioxidant protection)
  • Lightweight Moisturizer
  • Broad-Spectrum SPF 30+

Evening: Repair

  • Double Cleanse (Oil cleanser followed by water-based cleanser to remove SPF/makeup)
  • Targeted Treatment (Retinol, exfoliating acids, or peptides)
  • Richer Night Cream or Barrier Repair Balm

[!IMPORTANT] When introducing new products, only add one at a time. Wait at least one week before adding another. This allows you to identify which product is responsible if you experience a reaction or breakout.
